WHO WE ARE
The Manitoba Habitat Heritage Corporation (MHHC) is a non-profit Crown corporation established through the Manitoba Habitat Heritage Act. Created in 1986, MHHC was formed to work in partnership with Manitoba landowners to maintain and enhance fish and wildlife habitat.
The Corporation is governed by a eight-member Board of Directors comprised of provincially-appointed representatives. Twenty-three fulltime employees, located in five offices throughout southern Manitoba, deliver the range of MHHC’s conservation programs.
The mission of The Manitoba Habitat Heritage Corporation is to be a pre-eminent leader in delivering diverse habitat conservation programs through partnerships with the community and other governments.
From the beginning, MHHC focused its work on private lands in Manitoba and was structured to generate innovative solutions to conservation challenges that benefit both the landowner and wildlife. For 30 years, MHHC has continued to expand its role as a facilitator of conservation partnerships and delivery agency for voluntary, farm-friendly conservation initiatives that promote ecosystem health and biodiversity.
Our Partners and Funders
MHHC would like to gratefully thank all our participating private landowners in Manitoba. Without your support and careful stewardship of the land, there would be little opportunity to protect wildlife habitat in Manitoba.
Each year MHHC produces an annual report that highlights the Corporation’s activities and achievements throughout the preceding year. The report is submitted to the Minister of Sustainable Development and is publicly available.
